At the Core of Rios Wellness
Rios Wellness is grounded in the belief that healing begins from the center and moves outward, starting with the self and extending into relationships, community, and the systems we live within. Wellness is not a destination but an active balance, growth, and connection practice.
Founded by Roy Rios, LMSW, Rios Wellness offers trauma-informed psychotherapy that honors the complexity of identity and the wisdom of lived experience. Roy provides relational, culturally responsive care to individuals navigating trauma, identity development, and life transitions. His work centers people from diverse gender identities, sexualities, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and abilities, with a focus on creating affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. Supervised by Rosemary F. Hernandez, LCSW-S, SEP, EMDR & TBRI Trained.
Roy’s approach is grounded in systems theory, recognizing that individual wellness is inseparable from collective well-being. Healing involves understanding how family systems, community contexts, and structural forces shape our experiences. Through collaborative, empowerment-based care, clients are supported in reclaiming agency, nurturing resilience, and cultivating sustainable wellness from the inside out.
With more than twenty years of experience in leadership, program development, and trauma-informed systems change, Roy brings a deep commitment to healing justice. His practice bridges clinical insight with a belief in the transformative power of connection, helping clients heal, grow, and thrive in alignment with their values and communities.
Grounded in Care
Meet Roy
Roy earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Texas State University and is licensed by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council as a Licensed Master Social Worker. Roy values wellness, laughter, and finding balance between meaningful work and moments of rest.
At Rios Wellness, we believe that healing cannot exist without justice. Our practice is rooted in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and liberation for all people, especially those from Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and other communities of color, as well as LGBTQ+ and gender-expansive individuals. We actively work to unlearn systemic harm, challenge white supremacy, and create spaces where every identity is affirmed, protected, and celebrated.
We understand that systems of power and inequality often shape trauma. Our commitment is to hold space that honors cultural identity, ancestral wisdom, and collective resilience, and to support each person’s journey toward wholeness, self-determination, and freedom.
Our Commitment to
Anti-Oppression and Liberation
Our Commitment to Peace and Nonviolence
At Rios Wellness, we believe that violence, in all its forms, disconnects us from our shared humanity. We stand firmly against war, oppression, and the systems that perpetuate harm, displacement, and suffering. Our work is grounded in the belief that healing and peace grow from justice, empathy, and the honoring of every life’s inherent dignity.
We support paths of restoration over retribution, compassion over control, and collective care over conflict. Through our practice, we aim to nurture spaces that model peace, where communities can transform pain into purpose and move toward healing that uplifts all.
